COMMON ADMISSION TEST (CAT) PROSPECTUS 2016

Prospectus for admission to professional and non-professional courses conducted by Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kochi - 21 for the year 2016 has been approved vide University Order number IRAA/3A/417/CAT Notification /2016 dated 20th January 2016 and is published herewith. This prospectus provides the vital information regarding the Common Admission Test – 2016 (CAT 2016) and allied admission procedures for the y ear 2016. Candidates are required to read this Prosp ectus carefully so as to make them fully aware of the rules/procedures related to Application/Test/Option Registration/ Allotment & all other matters related to Admission 2016. Candidates are also required to visit the website www.cusat.nic.in regularly so as to update themselves from the latest notifications, notices, announcements, instructions etc. published in the site regarding CAT 2016.

COMMENCEMENT OF ONLINE REGISTRATION : 20th January 2016

LAST DATE FOR ONLINE SUBMISSION : For Indian & NRI candidates - 15th February 2016 (Last date for payment of fees — 22/02/2016)

EXTENDED PERIOD OF REGISTRATION FOR MBA / M TECH : 1st to 30th April 2016 (Last date for fee payment—05/05/2016)

DOWNLOADING OF ADMIT CARDS : 15th April 2016 onwards

DATE OF EXAMINATION :

30th April 2016 [ B Tech, 5 Year M Sc Photonics, BBA with LLB, BCOM with LLB, MA, MIP-PhD, LLM-PhD, MCA (Lateral Entry ) & MSC (Computer Science) ]

01st May 2016 [ 3 year LLB, MFSc, MVoc, MCA and MSc excluding MSc Photonics ]

Issue & receipt of DAT application forms for PhD, M Phil & Diploma Programmes : 20/01/2016 to 22/02/2016

CAT Structure:

Engg. & Technology (Test code 101): The test 101 comprises of 250 objective type multiple choice questions based on Plus Two syllabus. Of this, 125 questions will be from Mathematics and 125 questions will be from Phyics and Chemistry with physics to chemistry ratio maintained at 3:2. The duration of the test will be three hours. The admissions to the following courses are based on the score in this test:
i. Five-year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics
ii. All B Tech Programmes excluding Lateral Entry to B Tech Programmes
