KARNATAKA EXAMINATIONS AUTHORITY
Karnataka Examinations Authority invites applications for admission to 1st year / 1st semester full time / part time MBA / MCA / M.E. / M. Tech. / M. Arch courses and Admission to the Part Time M.Tech Quality Improvement Programme ( QIP ) and Admission to 2nd year lateral entry to MCA Course for Karnataka and non-Karnataka candidates for year 2016 – 17.
In order to obtain admission to MBA, MCA, M.E. / M.Tech / M.Arch courses through KEA, a candidate must appear for the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test – 2016, which will be conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore ( Herein after referred to as KEA ). The Post Graduate Common Entrance Test – 2016 will be conducted in specified places, spread over Karnataka.

Commencement of Entry of Application Online : From 4.00 pm on 24th May, 2016

PGCET Date:
MCA - 02 July, 2016 at 10.30 am to 12.30 pm
MBA - 02 July, 2016 at 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm
M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch - 03 July, 2016
Eligibility Criteria:
MBA :
(i) Full Time MBA: A candidate who has passed Recognised Bachelor’s Degree of minimum of 3 years duration examination or equivalent examination and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects including languages in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to MBA courses. ( 45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates ) ( Reservation is applicable only for Karnataka Candidates )
(ii) Part Time MBA: A candidate who has passed recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum of 3 years duration examination or equivalent examination and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects including languages in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to MBA courses (45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates). (Reservation is applicable only for Karnataka Candidates) In addition to this a candidate after obtaining the degree, must have worked for not less than three years as on 31st July 2016, in an establishment and must be working in an organization situated within a radial distance of 40 km from the institution in which the candidate seeks admission.
MCA :
A candidate who has passed any recognized under graduate examination or equivalent examination with Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science or Computer Applications or Computer Programming or Business Mathematics or Business Statistics as one of the optional subjects and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to MCA courses. 45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates.
Provided that in respect of candidate who has studied and passed one of the subjects specified above in Pre-University Course with fifty percent of marks in that subject shall also be considered for admission. 45% of marks in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates.
Lateral Entry to 2nd year MCA:
A candidate who has passed recognised Bachelor’s Degree of minimum of 3 years duration examination in BCA, B.Sc (I.T. / Computer Science) with Mathematics at 10 + 2 level or at Graduate Level and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to MCA courses (45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates) (Reservation is applicable only for Karnataka Candidates) No Part Time courses are offered for MCA.
M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch:
(i) Full Time M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch:
A candidate with valid GATE score.
A candidate who has passed qualifying examination or equivalent examination as prescribed by the Competent Authority and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects of all the years / semesters of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to M.E. / M.Tech / M.Arch courses (45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I candidates.
(Reservation is applicable only for Karnataka Candidates)
(ii) Part Time M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch:
A candidate who has passed prescribed qualifying examination or equivalent examination as prescribed by the Competent Authority and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects of all the years / semesters of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to M.E. / M.Tech / M.Arch courses ( 45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I Karnataka candidates ) ( Reservation is applicable only for Karnataka Candidates ) In addition to this candidate after obtaining the complete degree, must have worked for not less than three years as on 31st July 2016, in an establishment and must be working in an organization situated within a radial distance of 40 km from the institution in which the candidate seeks admission. However, the employer has to fill up the NOC duly signed by the competent authority.
(iii) Admission to the Part Time M.Tech Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) shall be open to regular faculty working in institutions in Karnataka state.
- Who have passed B.E. / B.Tech Examination (in relevant field) of VTU or any other recognized University / Institution and have passed the qualifying examination in second class (50% aggregate) (No relaxation in minimum percentage will be given for these admissions)
- Having experience of one academic year, and
- Working place shall be within 100 kms from the institutions where they seek admission.
Not only a candidate who has passed the qualifying examination with requisite marks but also a candidate who is appearing for the Q. E. and expecting the results is eligible to apply for the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test – 2016.
