The Government of India established the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in 1975 with the objective of improving the quality of the Medical Education by establishing high and uniform standards of postgraduate examinations in modern medicine on an all India basis and utilizing existing infrastructure for capacity building.

NBE at present conducts postgraduate and postdoctoral examinations in approved specialties leading to the award of Diplomate of National Board. The Medical Council of India has laid down standards for postgraduate examinations conducted by various medical colleges and affiliated to concerned universities and other institutions, yet the levels of proficiency and standards of evaluation vary considerably in these institutions.

The Examinations conducted by NBE provide a common standard and mechanism of evaluation of minimum level of attainment of the knowledge and competencies of medical specialists. Moreover, intra country and international comparisons are facilitated with the availability of common evaluation mechanism.

IMPORTANT DATES:

Instructions: The online submission of application form for DNB-CETSS (2018 Admission Session) begins on 6 November 2017 from 3:00 PM onwards. Online applications can be accessed and completed till 11:59 PM on 27 November 2017.

NOTE: Candidates are advised to read the Information Bulletin and instructions for online submission of application form carefully before starting online submission of application form and ensure that no mandatory column in the online application form is left blank. In the event of rejection of the application form, no correspondence/ request for re-consideration will be entertained.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR DNB-CETSS – 2018 JANUARY ADMISSION SESSION

1. Candidates who are in possession of post graduate medical degrees/Provisional Pass Certificates by 31 December 2017 in eligible* specialties and their medical qualifications are recognized as per the provisions of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956 or DNB qualifications may apply for DNB-CETSS through online application. Candidates should have completed his/her 3 years (36 Months)of MD/MS training by 31.12.2017.

2. Candidate should possess permanent registration certificate of MBBS qualification and their additional medical qualification should be registered with Medical council of India.

3. Candidates found to be ineligible at any stage of DNB-CETSS will not be permitted to appear in the examination. In an unlikely event of any ineligible candidate appearing and/or being successful in the CET-SS, the results/ candidature of such candidate shall be cancelled and/or are deemed to be cancelled.

4. Requests for appearing in DNB-CETSS from candidates who are qualifying and getting their results of the basic eligibility qualification after 31 December 2017 shall be summarily rejected.

5. Candidates already pursuing a DM/MCh or DNB course are not eligible to appear for the DNB-CETSS till such time they have completed the duration of prescribed course or have been discharged from the course.

6. Registration and /or appearance in DNB-CETSS does not confer any automatic rights upon the candidate for admission at NBE accredited hospital / institute.

7. Registration with M.C.I./State Medical Council/ is necessary and its documentary proof should be furnished at the time of counseling.

8. Medical Genetics: NBE has introduce DNB Medical Genetics as 3 years Super Specialty Course from January 2015 Academic Session onwards. Candidates with DNB/MD/MS qualification in General Medicine, Pediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynecology only are eligible to opt for Medical Genetics (Cut off date for qualification 31.12.2017)

EXAMINATION FEE:

DNB-CETSS - Rs. 4500/-

Question Paper: The examination shall be a multiple choice questions exam delivered using computer network as per scheme prescribed.

There shall be a common question paper for admission to all Medical Super Specialties.

There shall be common question paper for admission to all Surgical Super Specialties.

There shall be common question paper for admission to all Pediatric Super Specialties.

There shall a common question paper for all Super Specialties for which MD/DNB Anesthesiology is the eligible qualification.

The question paper shall comprise of 180 multiple choice questions (MCQ) with single correct response to be attempted by candidate in 3 hrs. The questions shall be of the level of Post Graduate Exit Examination. The questions shall cover topics from Applied basic sciences, clinical practice and Recent advances.

Syllabus: As per the curriculum of the concerned specialty i.e. MD/DNB in Medicine for Medical Super Specialty; MS/DNB in Surgery for Surgical Group; MD/DNB in Pediatrics for Neonatology group.

Negative Marking: There shall be 25% negative marking for incorrect answers. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.

The candidate shall appear at the centre as shown on his/her Admit Card at his/her own cost.

Test Centre Location: Exact address and location of the test centers is available at NBE website. Location map of the test centers are also available at the website. Candidates are advised to familiarize themselves with the test centre locations and ensure that they report for the exam as per scheduled time only. Maps and directions to each centre are available on website http://www.nbe.edu.in . Candidates are required to plan their travel accordingly.

VALIDITY OF CET RESULT: The validity of the result of the DNB-CETSS shall be only for the current admission session i.e. January 2018 admission session only and cannot be carried forward for the next session of DNB-CETSS.

DECLARATION OF RESULT: The results for DNB-CETSS shall be declared by 21 January 2018. The mark sheet-cum-result certificate for the DNB-CETSS examination can be downloaded from NBE website http://www.nbe.edu.in after the declaration of result.

SCHEDULE FOR COUNSELING: The schedule of DNB-CETSS Centralized counseling shall be made available on NBE website www.natboard.edu.in

Group Specific Merit list of eligible candidates shall be notified on NBE website http://www.nbe.edu.in

Candidates will be able to download their Rank letter for participation from NBE website www.natboard.edu.in after the merit list is notified.
