The Government of India established the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in 1975 with the objective of improving the quality of the Medical Education by establishing high and uniform standards of postgraduate examinations in modern medicine on an all India basis and utilizing existing infrastructure for capacity building.

NBE at present conducts postgraduate and postdoctoral examinations in approved specialties leading to the award of Diplomate of National Board. The Medical Council of India has laid down standards for postgraduate examinations conducted by various medical colleges and affiliated to concerned universities and other institutions, yet the levels of proficiency and standards of evaluation vary considerably in these institutions.

The Examinations conducted by NBE provide a common standard and mechanism of evaluation of minimum level of attainment of the knowledge and competencies of medical specialists. Moreover, intra country and international comparisons are facilitated with the availability of common evaluation mechanism.

Availability of Information Bulletin : 30 October, 2017 onwards

Online Submission of application form for DNB-PDCET : 30 October - 27 November, 2017*

Examination date : 21 December, 2017

Declaration of Result : By 21 January, 2018

Cut off date for completing Post Graduation Diploma Qualification : 31 December, 2017**

*The online submission of application form for DNB-PDCET begins on th 30 October 2017 from 03:00 PM onwards. Online applications can be accessed and completed till 11:59 PM on 27th November 2017.

**Completing Post Graduation Diploma Qualification means candidate should have completed the requisite two years training and his /her result of the final examination of the requisite Post Graduation Diploma qualification should have been declared by the cutoff date i.e. 31st December, 2017. Candidates who are not completing the training by the cutoff date and their final result has not been declared by the cutoff date or they have not qualified in the requisite examination need not apply.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR DNB-PDCET - JANUARY - 2018 ADMISSION SESSION

1. Candidates who have passed the final examination leading to the award of Post Graduate Diploma from Indian Universities which are duly recognized as per provisions of Indian Medical Council Act 1956, Govt of India i.e. have passed/Passing the final examinations for Post graduate diploma on or before 31 December, 2017 can apply for the Post diploma CET in the same Broad specialty. Candidate should have completed his/her 2 years st (24 months) of post graduation diploma training by 31 December, 2017.

2. Submission of proof of having passed/Passing the Post graduate diploma final examination on or before the 31 December, 2017 is an essential pre- requisite. In case the candidate does not submit requisite proof of passing his/her post graduate diploma final examination at the time of centralized merit based counseling, his/her candidature shall not be considered for PDCETJanuary 2018 admission session.

3. Candidate found to be ineligible at any stage of PDCET will not be permitted to appear in the examination. In an unlikely event of any ineligible candidate appearing and/or being successful in the PDCET, the result/candidature of such candidate shall be cancelled.

4. Requests for appearing in PDCET from candidates, who are qualifying and getting their results of the basic eligibility qualification after 31st December, 2017 shall be summarily rejected. Candidate who are qualifying their PG Diploma exit examination or and getting their results after 31 December, 2017 or likely to qualify after 31 December, 2017 need not apply in the PDCET exam as they shall be ineligible to appear in the PDCET.

5. Candidates already pursuing a MD/MS/DNB course are not eligible to appear for DNB-PDCET till such time they have completed the duration of prescribed course or have been discharged from the course. Candidates who have joined DNB (Post Diploma) course in or after July 2016 session are not eligible to appear in DNB-PDCET January 2018 admission session. This shall be irrespective of their resignation or discontinuation from the course due to any reason.

6. Registration and /or appearance in PDCET do not confer any automatic rights upon the candidate for admission at NBE accredited hospital.

7. Registration with M.C.I./State Medical Council is necessary and its documentary proof should be furnished at the time of counseling.

EXAMINATION FEE:

DNB-PDCET Rs. 4500/-

No. of items (questions) : 300 questions

Declaration of Post Diploma CET results: The result of the Post Diploma CET - January, 2018 Admission Session is likely to be declared by 21st January, 2018. However, this period may vary depending upon the time taken for preparation of results.

Merit List for Post Diploma CET: All candidates appearing in Post Diploma CET examination will be ranked in order of the marks secured by them amongst other candidates of same Broad specialty. Aseparate merit will be prepared for each Broad specialty in which Post Diploma CET examination is conducted. For e.g. the merit list for DNB Obstetrics & Gynaecology secondary seats will have only Post DGO candidates as contenders.

Negative Marking: There shall be 25% negative marking for incorrect answers. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.
