About GPSC: The gujarat public service commission was constituted under article 315(1) of the constitution of india has defined function of the public service commission in which one of the most significant power listed is the power as an advisory. It can give advice to the president and the governors of any state in.
As per the provision of the Constitution of India formation of the Gujarat Public Service Commission has been made on 01-05-1960.
Competitive Examination: Information of the recruitment made through the Competitive Examination
On receipt of the requisition from the Government to select the candidates for the posts shown in the Table-I falling under the purview of the Commission, the advertisement is published by the Commission in the leading Gujarati, English newspapers and Gujarat Rojgar Samachar.
The candidates are selected on the basis of the marks secured by them in the written examination or written examination and viva voce, subject to satisfying the eligibility norm. After sending the recommendation of the selected candidates to the Government by the Commission, The Government issues the order of appointment / training.

For the General category candidates,
The General category Candidates have to pay Rs. 100 + Postal/Bank Charges (as applicable) after filling the online application form by paying at any Post Office across Gujarat or by e-Payment.
Application Form Fees will not be accepted in Cash or Demand Draft or by Indian Postal Order (IPO).
While in respect to reserved category and physically challenged candidates,
The candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Socially and Educationally Backward Classes of Gujarat origin and Physically Disabled person are exempted from the payment of application fee & examination fee.
Such candidates should produce a certified copy of the Caste certificates / Medical certificate of Physically Disability issued by the competent officer, as the case may be.
Examination Fee:
i. The Unreserved / General Candidates shall require to pay the examination fee as mentioned in the advertisement.
ii. Examination fee shall be paid in cash at any computerized Post Office across Gujarat or by payment gateway online. Besides this, application form fees cannot be paid through "Cash or Indian Postal Order or by Demand Draft."
iii. The examination fee shall not be accepted in the form of postal stamps or by money order or Cash or Demand Draft or by Indian Postal Order (IPO) or in any other form except for online e-payment (Payment Gateway) or by post office challan to be paid across all the computerized post offices across Gujarat (Fees+Postal/Bank Charges (as applicable)).
iv. Once the application fees is received by the Commission, no request for refund of the fee shall be entertained nor shall this fee be kept reserved for any other examination or selection.
v. The candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Socially and Educationally Backward Classes of Gujarat origin only and Physically Disabled shall not require to pay examination fee.
vi. Ex-servicemen who have retired after the completion of their general services in the armed forces and those who are eligible to appear at the competitive examination for the posts of Class-III, are exempted from payment of the application form fee and examination fee, but they are not eligible to get such exemption from the competitive examination of class-I and Class-II posts.
Age Limit: The relaxation in the upper age limit is available as per the details shown in the advertisement published by the Commission. The following relaxation shall be available as per the existing provisions:
i. Five years relaxation shall be available to the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Socially and Educationally Backward Classes of Gujarat origin only, subject to the posts reserved for such category.
ii. The woman candidates of the reserved category shall be granted the relaxation of ten years in the upper age limit, subject to maximum age limit of 45 years.
iii. The woman candidates of general category shall be granted the relaxation of five years in the upper age limit, subject to maximum age limit of 45 years.
iv. Subject to the provision of the advertisement, Physically Disabled candidates who are capable of performing the duties of the concerned posts as a normal person, shall be eligible to get the relaxation of ten years in the upper age limit on producing the Medical Certificate of the Medical Board.,
v. The age relaxation of five years in competitive examinations for Class-I and Class-II posts, shall be available to Commissioned Officers including Ex-serviceman/ ECO/ S. S. Cos. who have rendered at least five years military service and have been released on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within six months) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of physical disability attributed to military service or invalidity. While for Class-III posts, the ex-serviceman shall be granted the age relaxation by the length of military service plus three years, in accordance with the provision of the advertisement.
vi. The Government Servants shall not be eligible to get the relaxation in the upper age limit.
Eligibility: For the entrance to the examination, a candidate should be -
A citizen of India, or
A subject of Nepal, or
A subject of Bhutan, or
A Refugee from Tibet, who should have migrated to India for permanent settlement before 1st January, 1962, or
A person of Indian origin who should have migrated to India for permanent settlement from Pakistan, East Pakistan, (Bangladesh), Burma (Myanmar), Shri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda of East African countries, United Republic Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam.
Entrance to the Exam:
If the Commission is not satisfied with the eligibility of any candidate and /or if the candidate does not fulfill the requirements including the payment of examination fee, he shall not be permitted in the examination.
As regards the entrance, the decision of the Commission shall be final and no correspondence shall be entertained in this regard.
The candidate who has been permitted in examination shall be communicated by the letter as to the place, date and time of the examination.
The candidates shall remain present at their own expense for written examination or personal interview.
The Scheduled Caste and the Scheduled Tribe candidates shall be paid to and fro second class railway fare or S.T. Bus fare only for their oral test for coming to Ahmedabad as per the prevalent Government rules.

Direct Selection: Information of the recruitment made by Direct Selection
On receipt of the requisition from the Government, Commission publish the advertisement in the leading Gujarati, English news papers and Gujarat Rojgar Samachar for recruitment to various posts of Class-I and Class-II under the Government through direct selection i. e. without competitive examination.
On publication of the advertisement, the following procedure is followed for inviting the application forms.

Submission of Application:
All the details of the application form shall be filled in by the candidate online personally and they can use One Time Registration (OTR) facility also. Before filling up the application form, the candidate should refer the advertisement in details and the Instructions to the candidates.
A recent passport size photograph and signature shall be uploaded as instructed on How to Apply on our website.
Application Fee:
Candidates of General category shall require to pay Rupees 100/- as an application fee + Postal/Bank Charges as applicable.
Application fee shall be paid in cash at any computerized Post Office across Gujarat or by payment gateway online. Besides this, application form fees cannot be paid through "Cash or Indian Postal Order or by Demand Draft."
The candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Socially and Educationally Backward Classes of Gujarat origin only and Physically Disabled shall not require to pay any fee.
Age Relaxation: A relaxation is available in upper age limit as shown in the advertisement of Direct Recruitment.
The upper age limit may be relaxed up to five years in favour of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe and S. & E.B.C. of Gujarat origin only. Provided that, the upper age limit for entry in the service does not exceed 45 years in any case.
A Relaxation of ten years shall be available to the woman candidates of reserved category, subject to maximum age limit of 45 years.
A relaxation of five years shall be available to the woman candidates of General category, subject to maximum age limit of 45 years.
A relaxation of ten years shall be available in the case of Physically Disabled candidates subject to his/her ability to discharge duties as any other normal person on the basis of production of medical certificate from the Medical Board.
